My name is Samantha Dewig and this is my personal website for sports broadcasting. I was born and raised in the state of Indiana and became absolutely entranced with the sport of basketball from a young age.
I attended Indiana University where I spent three years covering IU’s basketball team where they went from being 12-20, to making a miraculous Sweet Sixteen run, to being ranked first in the nation. I was the main video reporter for Rivals.com (Indiana), hosted the IU Coaches show on the CW in Indianapolis, and did sideline for Big Ten Network. I was even lucky enough to be chosen to be the main television host for IU’s Midnight Madness two years in a row.
My senior year of college I was offered a graduate position in Indiana University’s media relations department where I got to see the other side of media. I got to work closely and travel with the men’s basketball team and the women’s water polo team. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I truly believe it helped my career in broadcasting in ways not otherwise possible.
My main responsibility during basketball, football, and soccer games was to outsource with Big Ten Network. The games I was not on air I ran talent stats for the broadcast crew.
While at school, I was heavily involved in the creation of a new website called IUSportCom.com, which was a website for students interested in sports media to create content and see their work published to a large audience.
Though I specialize in basketball, I also have much experience with football, soccer, wrestling, water polo, volleyball, and baseball. My strengths lie in my knowledge of the game and my interviewing skills. I feel as if I have the talent, drive, and experience to make it in this career path, but even more than that, I feel as though I have the work ethic that will make not only me, but others around me successful.
